The William Allen Construction Company, working under the mentorship of employees from Alvin H. “It took a long time to secure the financing, but it was worth the wait. The WAHS baseball and softball teams now have facilities that are the equal of their competitors,” said Lee Butz, Chairman of Alvin H. Butz, Inc.

Improvements to the existing baseball and softball facilities included constructing new dugouts at both fields consisting of concrete masonry walls, corrugated metal roofing, built-in aluminum benches and concrete slab floors.  Improvements also included new fencing for player and spectator protection and relocation of existing bleachers to improve visibility.  Renovations to the baseball playing field will be completed through a grant secured by the baseball team.

The ceremony was concluded with words of thanks and appreciation from a baseball and softball player. Plaques listing the names of the donors and contributors were created and displayed near the baseball dugouts.

“The students from William Allen Construction Company are a shining example of how our students can rise above expectations through the active support of our community,” said Thomas Parker, Superintendent of the Allentown School District. “Partnerships with local businesses give our students the opportunity to access real world work experiences before graduation, and those experiences can help guide their future plans towards college or a career pathway.”
