Treat yourself next week to a sweet treat. Prices will range from $.50 to $2.00.
Wanted: Canaries for Life are looking for a few good men. Do you think you have what it takes to be Mr. Allen 2020? Stop by Room 1-213 to put your name on the list. The Mr. Allen Competition will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 7PM. Contestants need to register no later than Friday, January 17th.
SENIORS if you have a debt please clear it in the Main Office. If you DON’T pay your debt, you will not receive your DIPLOMA at graduation.

SENIORS -- On Wednesday, January 8, all seniors will receive a ballot for the Senior Class Favorites from your English teacher. Those seniors who are taking DE English will receive their ballot in one of your other classes. If you would like to participate in the voting for the Senior Class Favorites, please return your ballot to Mr. Iles in Room 4-204 by Friday, January 17. Ballots will not be accepted after January 17. The winners of the various senior class favorites will be pictured on the Senior Superlatives pages in the yearbook. If you need an extra copy of the Senior Class Favorites ballot, please see Mr. Iles in Room 4-204.

SENIORS -- The yearbook is now accepting pre-orders for the 2020 edition of the yearbook. The total cost of the yearbook is $63.60. If you would like to order a copy of the yearbook, please bring a $5.00 deposit to Room 4-204 by Friday, January 31. You will need to pay off your yearbook before it is distributed in May. If you have any questions about ordering a yearbook, please see Mr. Iles in Room 4-204.

Seniors - Just a reminder that Senior Class T-shirts are on sale in Room 4-204. We have two shades of blue available, in all sizes, Small through Extra Large. Proceeds from the t-shirt sale benefit your class. The shirts are $15 each or 2 for $25.

On January 30th there is a GEAR UP field trip to Triangle Technical Institute from 10:00 AM to 1 PM. See Ms. Gallagher in the College & Career Center for a permission slip if you are interested in seeing the Triangle Tech campus in Bethlehem.

• Key Club meets on the first and third Thursday of every month in 1-304
• 4-H Club meets every Monday after school in Rm 1-308
• Guitar club will be every Tuesday in room 8-221 at 2:50 until 3:50pm.
• Volunteers in Motion will meet every Thursday after school in the library.
• Gay Straight Alliance meets every Tuesday in room 1-303 after school. All are welcome!
• Anti-Bullying Club meets every Monday at 2:50pm in room 3-205 All are welcome!
• K-POP meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:50-4:30 in room 8-303.
• STAGE CREW is meeting after school daily in the Scene Shop. Lots to do right now!
• Latino Leadership meets every Tuesday after school in Room 8-121.
• Baking Club meets every Monday at 2:50 in room 1-221
• International club will meet Wednesdays (except the 1st one of the months) at 2:50 in room 1-209
• Students Against Destructive Decisions club meets every Monday after school in the main cafeteria.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• After-school SAT and College Prep classes are starting again on Jan. 14th for students in grades 9-11. You can pick up information on how to register for these FREE classes in the career center. There are 20 spots available and it is first come, first served.

• Seniors check out the most updated scholarship listing in the career center. It is updated frequently. Rotary Club scholarship applications are available now. This scholarship is worth $12,000.

• Seniors should also be sure they do their financial aid paperwork for college before it’s too late. May 1st is the deadline to commit to a college for next year and also the deadline for a state grant.

William Allen High School is one of 3 high schools located in the city of Allentown. 
The richness of The Allentown School District's diversity is strengthened by its central role in educating our students for America's future through academic excellence and celebrating the culturally responsive, athletic and artistic range of talent in the schools. ASD students originate from 51 countries and speak 26 languages. There are twenty-five academic buildings throughout the City. 

During the 2016-2017 school year, the district enrolled 16,628 students across 15 Elementary & Early Childhood Centers (7,976), 4 Middle Schools (3,421) and 3 High Schools (5,231).  The Allentown School District has 2,429 personnel.

89.1% of our families are denoted as Low Income, and 100% receive Free/Reduced Lunch.  ASD is the third largest urban school system out of 500 Districts in the Commonwealth and serves a community with a poverty rate of 38.64% of the City's population. (2013 Census).
