ALLEN ANNOUNCEMENTS

Juniors: On Wednesday, March 25, all juniors will be taking the SAT School Day. It is a free opportunity, and it does not count again the two free fee waivers that you can receive for Saturday SAT testing. If you have already signed up for the March 14 SAT, you may want to considering changing the date to May or June, since you will be taking the test during the school day on March 25. More information will be provided in English classes and also mailed home soon.

Attention Seniors who have not purchased a Cap and Gown, the ONLINE order deadline is February 21, 2020. This is the last day you can order online for $23.

ATTENTION SENIORS, PLEASE VERIFY THE WAY YOUR NAME IS SPELLED ON SAPPHIRE BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY IT WILL APPEAR ON YOUR DIPLOMA.  IF IT IS INCORRECT, YOU MUST SEE MRS. HERSH IN THE MAIN GUIDANCE OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO SHE CAN CORRECT IT AND ORDER YOUR DIPLOMA. 

Parent Coffee & Conversation will be Feb. 24th at 9:30am in the Media Center.

Attention all students:  This year's staff v. students basketball game is on March 27th at 6:30 PM in the gym.  If you are interested in playing, please sign up with Mrs. Billy in room 1-216.  Last year the students won 46-44!  All money earned from this game goes toward Kutztown University Upward Bound student scholarships.  Pre-sale tickets are available from Mrs. Billy, Mrs. Roehrich, Mrs. O'Boyle, and Mrs. Riggle.

SENIORS if you have a debt please clear it in the Main Office.  If you DON’T pay your debt, you will not receive your DIPLOMA at graduation.

SENIORS -- The yearbook is now accepting pre-orders for the 2020 edition of the yearbook. The total cost of the yearbook is $63.60. If you would like to order a copy of the yearbook, please bring a $5.00 deposit to Room 4-204 by Friday, January 31. You will need to pay off your yearbook before it is distributed in May. ​ If you have any questions about ordering a yearbook, please see Mr. Iles in Room 4-204.

Seniors - Just a reminder that Senior Class T-shirts are on sale in Room 4-204. We have two shades of blue available, in all sizes, Small through Extra Large. Proceeds from the t-shirt sale benefit your class. The shirts are $15 each or 2 for $25.



CLUBS:
• Do you want to learn to knit or crochet? Join our club after school on Mondays in room 1-221.  
• Key Club meets on the first and third Thursday of every month in 1-304
• 4-H Club meets every Monday after school in Rm 1-308
• Guitar club will be every Tuesday in room 8-221 at 2:50 until 3:50pm.  
• Volunteers in Motion will meet every Thursday after school in the library.
• Gay Straight Alliance meets every Tuesday in room 1-303 after school.  All are welcome!
• Anti-Bullying Club meets every Monday at 2:50pm in room 3-205 All are welcome!
• STAGE CREW is meeting after school daily in the Scene Shop. Lots to do right now!
• Latino Leadership meets every Tuesday after school in Room 8-121. 
• Baking Club meets every Monday at 2:50 in room 1-221
• Students Against Destructive Decisions club meets every Monday after school in the main cafeteria.


COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Rotary club scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Duggan in the career center by Feb. 1st. Late applications will not be accepted. Please turn your completed application in as soon as possible.

• There will be a field trip to Cedar Crest College on March 26th. Permission slips can be picked up in the career center and must be returned by Feb. 3rd. There are 30 spots available and all 11th and 12th graders are welcome to come.

• Seniors check out the most updated scholarship listing in the career center. It is updated frequently.

Rotary Club scholarship applications are available now. This scholarship is worth $12,000.

• Seniors should also be sure they do their financial aid paperwork for college before it’s too late.

May 1st is the deadline to commit to a college for next year and also the deadline for a state grant.

SPORTS

The Allen Canaries Varsity Basketball Team will take on the Liberty Hurricanes in the 2020 EPC Championship TONIGHT, at 8:00 PM, at PPL Center.  Come out and support your Canaries as they take flight for Gold at the PPL Center for the 2020 EPC Championship!

Tickets are on sale now at PPLCenter.com, the QNB Box Office at PPL Center, and by phone at 610-347-TIXX [8499]. General Admission adult tickets can be purchased for $7.00. Students (ages 18 & under) and Senior Citizens (ages 65 & over) can purchase tickets for $4.00. Children ages 4 & under are free but require a complimentary ticket for entry, which can be secured with the purchase of an adult ticket.  Gates will open at 5:00 PM. Only EPC Passes or credentials will be accepted for admission.


Your Allen Canary Swim team has its LAST regular meet today verse cross-town rival Dieruff Huskies!!! Come out to the pool and cheer on your swimming Canaries! Meet is at 4pm!!! Free admission and a yummy snack stand... we hope to see you there!!!!

William Allen High School is one of 3 high schools located in the city of Allentown.
