Applying to College

College Application Checklist for Seniors

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT ALL COLLEGE APPLICATIONS ARE COMPLETE BY THE END OF NOVEMBER.
(FOR MORE SPECIFIC DATES, BE SURE TO CHECK EACH SPECIFIC SCHOOL FOR ITS APPLICATION DEADLINE.)

DID I TAKE THE SAT OR ACT?
It is recommended to take both tests twice, but only one test score is needed to apply to college. MOST schools are looking for at least a 500 on each section of the SAT and at least a 21 on the ACT.

DID I SIGN A TRANSCRIPT RELEASE FORM WITH MY GUIDANCE COUNSELOR?

DID I COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM ON THE COLLEGE’S WEBSITE OR BY USING THE COMMON APPLICATION?

DID I ADD EACH SCHOOL I APPLIED TO ON MY SAT AND ACT ACCOUNT SO THEY WILL RECEIVE MY SCORES?

DID I PAY FOR THE APPLICATION WITH A CREDIT CARD OR DID I SEND IN A FEE WAIVER BY MAIL?
If you took the SAT with a fee waiver, you will have 4 application fee waivers on your online SAT account to use for college applications. You must print, then mail each one to the school you are using it for.

DID I MAIL IN ANY ADDITIONAL MATERIALS REQUESTED?
For example- letters of recommendation, etc.  Check the school’s website to see what is required in a full application for that school.

DID I GIVE MY LIST OF COLLEGES TO MY GUIDANCE COUNSELOR SO HE/SHE CAN SEND MY TRANSCRIPT?

IF I PLAN TO PLAY DIVISION I OR II COLLEGIATE SPORTS, DID I REGISTER ONLINE WITH THE NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER?              http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/future

MAY 1ST IS THE DEADLINE TO SEND YOUR DEPOSIT TO YOUR SCHOOL OF CHOICE.  ALSO LET YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR KNOW YOUR FINAL CHOICE SO YOUR FINAL TRANSCRPIT CAN BE SENT.
If you miss this deadline, that school may not hold a spot for you.
