Principal

Dear William Allen Community,

It is with immense gratitude and pride that I reflect on my first year serving as your principal. From the moment I stepped into this role, you welcomed me with open arms into the Canary Family. Returning to the district where my career first began in 2001 as an ESOL teacher has truly been a full-circle moment, and leading this remarkable school over the past year has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life.

Together, we have celebrated countless accomplishments across our classrooms, athletic fields, and arts programs. These successes are a direct result of the dedication of our educators, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families. While we take pride in these milestones, our work is just beginning. We remain deeply committed to achieving the ambitious goals outlined in our School Improvement Plan. By focusing on academic rigor, targeted interventions, and expanding opportunities for every learner, we are ensuring that our growth is continuous and sustainable.

As we look toward the future, we do so with a profound respect for the rich history and traditions that make William Allen High School so special. Honoring our past goes hand in hand with meeting the evolving needs of our current students and school community. In an urban setting rich in cultural, racial, and economic diversity, my commitment remains steadfast: fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed. As a mother of three and grandmother of two, leading by example guides everything I do, and I remain dedicated to building strong bridges across our entire community.

Thank you for an unforgettable first year and for making me feel so at home in the Canary Family. I am excited to build upon our strong foundation and continue our work together to ensure every student achieves their fullest potential.

With deepest respect and gratitude,

Dr. Alicia A. Knauff
